DISCUSSION GROUP ON FAITH AND ABORTION via Zoom
Tuesday, May 17 from 7:00pm -8:00pm
With news on the possibility of Roe vs. Wade being overturned flooding our airwaves, the topic of abortion is once again one of national debate. Many people have strong opinions on the issue and a variety of life experiences or beliefs that shape their feelings. What might our faith say about this subject?
I would like to invite anyone who is interested in having a discussion on this topic to join me on Zoom Tuesday evening May 17 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. This is a time not to argue or try to convince each other who is right or wrong, but rather it is a time to listen to one another, to feel like we can safely share opinions, feelings, or stories in a respectful environment, and discern together how our faith mightcall us to respond to such national news.
Below is a statement from our presiding Bishop from 2019 on the topic of abortion and our church’s social statement. This statement is not meant to be a doctrine, but a source of guidance as Lutherans wrestle with this issue. It will also help guide our discussion.
