WELCA: Women of the ELCA

"As a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society, and the world."

— WELCA MISSION STATEMENT

Our women’s ministries at Holy Trinity are associated with the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (WELCA). This organization connects about 7,000 congregations throughout the States and the Caribbean, bringing a deeper, broader meaning to the volunteerism and fellowship that our women engage in. If you are interested in getting involved with one of our women’s groups, you can read about our events in the monthly newsletters or contact the church office for more information.

Small Groups

Dorcas Quilting & Craft Circle: This group gathers one time per month to make quilts. These quilts and the prayer shawls made by the Knit, Purl, Pray group are often given to individuals such as newborns and those who are on hospice. Knit, Purl, Pray (a knitting and crocheting group) meets with the Dorcas Quilting Circle 1x per month, and also makes ear warmers, hats, and toys. All that is created is given away to those in need of extra comfort and warmth in the community.

Thea is a women’s book group that meets to read and discuss contemporary writings on the last Monday of every month. These meetings take place at 7:30 p.m. at a group member’s home in the area. If you would like to join our friendly bookworms on their next literary journey, please contact Sally Johnson.

Other women's group events include monthly Bible studies utilizing the "Gather" magazine as it's main resource.

See the church calendar or most recent newsletter for upcoming events.
