A new Contemporary worship service begins on October 3, at 9:45 AM. You are invited to attend this new event in the life of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. The service is designed to work in conjunction with our Village Sunday school (VSS) program.

All Sunday school children, 3 years to fifth grade, are to meet in the Sanctuary along with all other worshipers at 9:45 AM. Communion Preparation

Friday, September 3, 2004

For Youth and Adults! Coming to the Lord’s Table and sharing in the sacrament of Holy Communion is a wonderful privilege for the people of God. While we understand the heart the sacraments is the very mystery of an incarnate God, still we take time each year to deepen our understanding of the meaning, history and biblical witness to the sacrament of the Table.

This year classes for youth will be offered October 19, 20, and 21, immediately after school. (Conejo Valley School District dismisses early during that week.) Youth of any age are welcome to Communion Preparation classes. In order to prepare for the variety of children who participate, we need to know how many resources to order for each age group. So please call the church office to register your children for the classes. Students will be grouped into classes with others in their age group.

This year classes for adults will also be offered! Perhaps you’ve been sharing in Communion but never had the opportunity to learn about the meaning of Communion? Maybe you have questions about where in the Bible to find the story that is told of Jesus instituting this special practice? Maybe you would like to walk with your child better prepared to talk about the meaning of Communion, or perhaps you’d just like a refresher conversation! All adults are welcome to join Pastor Janet on Sunday, October 10th and 17th during the Education hour (9:45-10:45 AM) in the Fireside Room.

Thoughts While Running

Wednesday, September 1, 2004

Recently, while running, I was reminded of the rhythms of life that we develop. Most importantly the September beginning of school, although Linda and I do not have kids in school anymore, we still remember those wonderful, hectic, exciting times. Buying new jeans and shirts, getting notebooks and backpacks, looking at schedules and what was ahead and planning. There was an energy to this all its own. In a like manner the church seems to respond to September in the same way. There is renewed activity, a willingness to serve and to share with each other.

This fall will be an exciting time at Holy Trinity. Village Sunday School will gear up, a new contemporary service will be added to our schedule in October, Dedication Sunday will be held in October, with a chance to hear about all the wonderful ministries we have in place and how we can support those ministries. Of course we will also be celebrating things like Reformation Day, Halloweenie Roast, All Saints Day, and Thanksgiving. Yes, the fall will be filled with celebration and good things. Please make plans to be a part of it all for it does matter that you are there. The light of Christ that burns in us through our Baptism is brighter always when it is combined with others.

I pray that you will have a wonderful fall and the renewed energy that comes from the renewal of summer would sustain you into this exciting time. See you in church.

Love, Pastor Frank
