Warmed by the Light

2/8/2006
By: Pastor Janet

As a child, my elder sister, Kathy, gave each of her three younger sisters nicknames. How and why we were each dubbed, as we were, remains a bit of a mystery, but my sister has referred to me as “Little Light” for over 30 years now.
Maybe that association along with others has shaped my […]

Thoughts While Running

By: Holy Trinity Lutheran

Where did this year go? Here we are already in giving thanks. The month, that intentionally reminds us of all our blessings. Before the
darker days of winter hit, we remember the blessings of God upon us.
For many, this has been a year of disaster—beginning with tsunamis and going to hurricanes, earthquakes, and fires, […]

Synod Assembly Includes Strong Presence by Holy Trinity

7/9/2005
By: Holy Trinity Lutheran

As repeat Voting Members for Holy Trinity at the Southwest California Synod assembly (and veterans of many more in the Pacific Northwest), Anita and I were interested in the daily Bible study but didn’t have high expectations. And we certainly didn’t expect what we got— a stand-up comedian. What a treat, as the Rev. Dr […]

Message from Church Council President Gary Bague

7/5/2005
By: Holy Trinity Lutheran

“Faith Journey.” One of our pastors used the term at a recent meeting. What a profound way to reference our spiritual life. It isn’t that the destination is not important. We all want to end up in our afterlives in the place with the more temperate climate. But our lives as Christians while here on […]

Faithfulness Today Shapes Life for Tomorrow

7/3/2005
By: Holy Trinity Lutheran

No profound insight, really, something perhaps we can all give a nod to and then move on with our lives. But so many circumstances of late have brought that reality home for me and I suspect for many of us. A strong family connectedness and faith foundation was in place for Tim and Jeff and […]

The seasons of the church year do not have a section called vacation. However, they do speak of time away for prayer and renewal. This is an interesting concept, time away for prayer and renewal.
It has been said that we are a culture that is growing more and more secular, in other words time […]

Message from the Church Council President

Although subject to some debate, many believe the word Easter comes from the Teutonic Eastre, or pagan goddess of Spring, whose existence was honored on the vernal equinox or first day of Spring. Others take special note of the common root of the word, or east, as where the sun rises. What is indisputable is […]

Thoughts While Running

By: Holy Trinity Lutheran

Yes, I am still running, even after falling and breaking my hand. It has become something of a symbol to me. Life is like that, just when we think we have it all figured out or we are moving right along, something comes along to detour us and make us rethink or question. But, I […]
