For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Truly, I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these, you did it to me.- Matthew 25:35, 40
Some of the outreach programs that Holy Trinity members can participate in include:
Park Oaks Tutoring – for 1st and 2nd graders on Wednesday nights from 6-7:30PM. Location is close to church. The tutoring takes place each week where you work with an individual student on their reading, writing, and math. The first tutoring session is on October 5, 2011 and continues until May 2012.
Winter Shelter – begins on December 5, 2011 and we’ve been taking sign-ups at church for various jobs like hosting, making breakfast, or washing sheets. The Winter Shelter is an overnight program running until the end of March.
Walk for Poverty took place this year on October 8th. The walk is a 3 mile course (or whatever you can do) and begins at California Lutheran University’s Kingsmen Park. To solicit sponsors or to donate go to www.LSSWalk.org. All of the proceeds are going to our local Lutheran Social Services (LSS) Community Care Center.
Gifts of Hope – an alternative form of gift giving, in the spirit of Christmas. This year, the project is sponsoring the building of a power line to a village in Zimbabwe. This power line will bring electricity to a clinic, primary and secondary school as well as the entire village. This will especially help the clinic in treating patients with Malaria.
Community Outreach & Advocacy Ministry – if you would like to be a part of helping the community and advocating those who need help, please join our group. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00PM for approximately one hour.
