Sermon for November 27, the First Sunday of Advent

By Nov 26, 2011

Communion on the first day of Advent 2011

Our sermon the first Sunday of Advent will be delivered by Pastor Frank Nausin and is titled, “On How We Like a Schedule!”  The sermon will be given at all three services; 8:15, 9:45 and 11:00AM.  The Choir Anthem for the 11:00 service is “Come, Emmanuel.”  Please join us at the time of your choice.

Our Sunday School will meet in two larger groups in the first two classrooms for a lesson on the Story of Mary and an Advent Craft. Our middle and high school Youth Groups will meet at their usual times (9:45 and 11:00 respectively) in the library; and the nursery is open for infant care during all services as always.

Our Spiritual Growth “Adult Forum” takes place in the Fireside Room during the 9:45 service and again at 11:00.  Gerry Swanson and Pastor Janet will facilitate a continued discussion about our “all church read”, “Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life” by author Karen Armstrong.  Today’s topic looks at “Empathy, Mindfulness, and Action.”  At 11:00 Reni Pasricha leads participants in a spiritual journey based on teh book “The Hidden Power of the Gospels” by Alexander Shaia, focusing this week on The Gospel of Mark: Crossing the Stormy Sea.
