Thoughts While Running

The seasons of the church year do not have a section called vacation. However, they do speak of time away for prayer and renewal. This is an interesting concept, time away for prayer and renewal.
It has been said that we are a culture that is growing more and more secular, in other words time away for prayer and renewal is not part of the daily thoughts of most of our culture. Yet, deep down inside I believe all of us need time away, time for renewal. We need changes of pace, changes of scenery, changes of routine, etc. It has also been said, that if we are to exist in a secular culture as Christian or “People of the Way of Jesus,†we must think about how we include prayer and renewal into this mix time for renewal.â€
As you plan your vacation this summer, and I do hope you will get a vacation, think about prayer and renewal, and wherever you are mix that into your time away. Let us not be shaped by our culture, but let us shape our culture.
Linda and I ask for your prayers for our eldest son Tim and his bride to be Joelle Skaga. They will be married on July 30th, and this will be the main part of our vacation this summer.
Don’t forget to worship while on vacation and bring your bulletins from other churches back for us to see.
See you in church,
