The Church Council has appointed four delegates to attend along with Pastor Frank, Pastor Janet, and Shannon Savage, AIM to attend the Synod Assembly in Woodland Hills, CA. The theme this year is “Marked with the Cross of Christ Forever, Prayerfully Living the Faith of Our Baptism.”

Addressing the assembly will be the Rev. Dr. Maria-Alma Rainey Copeland. Pastor Copeland, is the interim pastor at New Jerusalem Church, Lexington, North Carolina. She was the first African American female ordained by the former American Lutheran Church. Also, Pastor Josephine Tso, President of our Companion Church the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hong Kong, will be Friday’s keynote speaker.

The Rev. Dr. Mark Allan Powell will be the Bible study leader Dr. Powell is professor of New Testament at Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio. Representing the ELCA will be Dr. Lowell Almen, the secretary of the ELCA. Pastor Janet will be the preacher at the closing worship service!
